Abusing the Goodness of God

“God is so kind and so merciful, however, that He has sent His Son into the world to take the punishment for all who will repent and come to Him. He is patient that He has provided more than just patience, He has provided a sacrifice in our place. We’re so used to mercy, so used to sinning and getting away with it, so used to iniquities without instant punishment, so accustom to abusing grace and goodness and kindness that when justice does appear, we think it’s injustice. We’re offended if God is not merciful because we don’t understand what we deserve. There are times when His mercy runs out. “My Spirit will not always strive with man,” He said, “I’m not going to do this forever,” -John MacArthur
